About LGIM

The global asset manager of
Legal & General

Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) launched in Asia Pacific by establishing Legal & General Investment Management Asia Ltd in July 2013. In response to growing demand for specialist and scalable global management solutions, LGIM brings indexing and active fixed income products to institutional investors in the region.

Legal & General Investment Management is one of Europe’s largest asset managers and a major global investor, with assets under management of US$1,420 billion*. LGIM works with a wide range of global clients, including pension schemes, sovereign wealth funds, fund distributors and retail investors. For more than 50 years, LGIM has built its business through understanding what matters most to clients and transforming this insight into valuable, accessible investment products and solutions.

More than 80% of LGIM’s new business comes from existing clients, demonstrating our belief in growing with clients and serving them well. Industry-leading client service means being accessible and delivering investment expertise consistently. Whether that means aiming to reliably providing a market return through its index funds, or establishing a bespoke actively managed solution that fits a client’s needs, LGIM has one key focus: providing clients with what they need most.

Responsibility

We have a responsibility to many stakeholders. When we allocate capital, we conduct extensive research into potential environmental and societal outcomes

Materiality

ESG factors are financially material, albeit not all to the same degree. And patience is required, because the time horizons of ESG outcomes and investment returns are not always aligned

Targeting long-term responsible investing goals

In partnership with, and on behalf of, our clients we target a broad range of ESG objectives. These include:

  • Reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner across all assets under management
  • Setting an interim target of 70% of eligible AUM to be managed in alignment with this net-zero ambition by 2030
  • Achieving net-zero carbon across our real estate portfolio by 2050 [1]

LGIM, as at May 2024. For further information on our responsible investing goals, please visit our Active Ownership page

[1] For this first interim target, unveiled as part of the Net Zero Asset Manager initiative, LGIM has excluded Government securities and Derivative assets due to lack of clear industry methodologies to account for these asset classes to date.

Whilst we have incorporated ESG information into investment decision making and stewardship practices, there can be no assurance that any responsible investing goals will be met.
