With the UK government committed to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, there’s a growing focus on the transition readiness of UK real estate sectors, and the implications for portfolios.
The regulatory, social and investment case for incorporating net zero into strategies is broadly accepted by institutional real estate investors within the UK and Europe. However, the definition, targets and standards associated with net-zero carbon buildings are still evolving and, as a result, the investment implications are arguably less well understood.
